Farmer Géza Szász Participates in the NEXON Scrapping Program: “It Matters How Much We Pay for an Electric Shepherd

“It really matters what price a farmer must pay for his electric shepherd. I participated in the scrapping program because of the huge discount,” explains farmer Géza Szász from Gyergyókilyénfalva, who recently seized our extraordinary offer and joined the NEXON electric shepherd scrapping program. He also shared his impressions of our system and why he took advantage of our offer.

Just like on many experienced farms, an old, barely functioning, ten-year-old electric shepherd (technically called an impulse generator) had been gathering dust on Szász Géza’s farm. Many people don’t even know how to get rid of these old devices, while others keep them year after year, hoping they might still be useful. But to be honest, outdated electric shepherd systems no longer provide the level of protection that the most modern ones do.

Farmer Géza Szász raises head cows and Angus cattle in Gyergyókilyénfalva. It is well known that damage caused by bears in Harghita County, especially in the Gyergyó area, poses a significant problem for local agricultural producers. For example, in the fall of 2024, the head of the Harghita County Agricultural Directorate, Zsolt Romfeld, reported that bears had caused damage to corn on approximately 500 hectares and had killed 125 sheep and 146 cattle, meaning that local farmers face a significant threat every day. Yet they refuse to give up their profession, even though they are admittedly a bit tired of fighting a losing battle.

Before and after using a smart electric fence: protecting crops from wildlife damage

Géza Szász said he felt relieved when he learned about the NEXON electric shepherd scrapping program online. He was very happy that this extraordinary offer finally solved most of his headaches—starting with not having to worry about how to dispose of his outdated device, and even receiving a new one in exchange for the old. Thanks to the new protection system, he can now start the major work this year with greater confidence.

“My old electric shepherd wasn’t even a NEXON product. But that didn’t matter. Neither the brand nor whether it was functional mattered,” he recounts, and his satisfaction can even be heard over the phone. He praises the smooth operation of the program.

“There was no need to even go to the company; Nexon staff sent a courier who picked up the old one and delivered the new one. Everything went smoothly.” Hearing his joy makes us a little happier too, because for us this is the goal: to relieve the farmers of their burdens and make their lives easier—especially now, at the start of the season. Soon, all they will have to worry about is heading out to the pastures and working the fields, with little time left to ponder what innovative technologies might make their work even smoother.

Part of their hard, sweaty work is regularly affected by damage. If not hindered by the challenges of weather, it is wildlife damage that disrupts their daily lives. That’s why it was so important for him to acquire the new electric shepherd device for protection against wildlife damage. He plans to guard his corn with it—after five long years, he finally has hope again. Until now, bears had kept him on edge, as wild animals mainly flock to the cornfields for food, and often remain there until harvest, causing significant damage.

Even though farmers leave a 3–4 meter wide “protective strip” along the outside so that the cornfield appears intact, inside it is actually trampled and emptied. “Even if the wild animals don’t eat it all, they still trample it,” he explains, adding that in some cases the exact extent of the damage is only revealed at harvest. Moreover, the compensation does not cover the actual loss because it is based on the cost of cultivation rather than the yield that would have been harvested from the damaged area.

Damage is making the farmers increasingly disheartened

“It is hard to keep bears away. In our region, damage caused by them is so frequent that we stopped growing corn five years ago. Now we have decided to give it another try, since we have the opportunity for more reliable protection,” he confesses, adding that he is starting the new season with high hopes and secretly wishes that his new electric shepherd device will exceed his expectations. For this challenging task, he did not choose just any impulse generator.

Since our most modern, 6th generation BeastShock GPS smart electric shepherd was available at an especially favorable price, he acquired it. In fact, when purchasing this device, an additional 10% discount can be applied. This means a 20% discount is available when turning in a non-functional device, and a 30% discount when the device is still working.

This waterproof, remotely controllable device allows farmers to monitor their livestock and fields from the comfort of their home. The intelligent BeastShock 6th GEN impulse generator features GPS tracking and can be monitored and controlled through a smartphone app. This is very efficient in saving time and costs since it does not require daily checks. In addition, it is easy to install—only mobile network coverage is needed.

“Because of the GPS, this is practically a revolutionary device. In the world we live in, you can no longer really leave anything in the field—if it can be taken, it will be taken. If not wildlife damage, then theft gives you headaches,” he explains, emphasizing that farmers must fight against numerous harmful factors, and that a good electric shepherd system can provide a much-needed sense of security.

While cooperation between authorities and farmers may be a good solution for dealing with damage caused by bears, effective preventive measures are also crucial in cases of wildlife damage: the use of an electric shepherd is now indispensable to improve the situation.

More details about our electric shepherd scrapping program are discussed in depth in our NexonLevi podcast on the Nexon Hungary YouTube channel. In the latest episode, Nexon Levi’s founder, owner, and Sales Manager Hunor Varga present the benefits of the exchange program, emphasizing that the offer is valid only until March 31. Therefore, it is advisable to act quickly and take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.
