Just recently, we avoided a tragedy thanks to the electric fence scrappage program organized by Nexon. A farmer who had been using a homemade electric fence for years decided to take the opportunity and upgrade to a new NEXON BeastShock impulse generator.
He came to our headquarters and proudly showed us the antique little device. Then explained that he had decided to part ways with this handy, self-built impulse generator.
The smiles started to fade after Nexon Levi plugged it in – and it began working in an unexpected, dangerous way. The reason we call it an impulse generator is because it’s generating an impulse every couple of seconds, not a continuous stream of electricity. Otherwise, it’s not a safety-enhancing device, but a life-threatening hazard.
Just think about the electricity in your wall socket: it doesn’t pulse – it flows continuously. If someone touches it, it can lead to muscle contraction, seizure, and they likely won’t be able to let go. Now consider that the heart is also a muscle – if it contracts and locks, the result can be fatal. We were lucky this time. But what if it had been a child, a loved one?
This homemade device still works – but not as a guardian, more like fatal danger zone.
We told the owner that by turning in this device through our scrappage program, he had taken an important step for the safety of the community. Thanks to this, he upgraded to a tested, reliable, and safe device, preventing a potential irreversible tragedy.
That scorched fox could have easily been a child – because electricity does not discriminate between humans and animals. The heart works the same either way.
In the end, the exchange had a positive outcome. Besides upgrading to a safe, more innovative device, the farmer understood that the rules and standards that apply to products exist to protect people.
Although it might seem funny at first to say, “the animal got zapped by the fence,” we strongly warn everyone: ignoring these safety rules could cost a human life.
An impulse generator must pulse – so that there’s time to move away from the fence.
And one more critical point: as seen in the image, the device produced a continuous electric arc – no interruption, no pulsing. If this had occurred in a dry wheat field or near a barn, it would have posed a fire hazard, like an open flame or lighter.
The cheapest way to learn is from others’ mistakes. So if you still have a similar homemade device, remove it immediately and get a tested, safe, and efficient electric fence energizer – like the ones Nexon has been manufacturing since 2011.
You don’t need the strongest, most expensive device – just the one that fits your purpose. That’s why you can confidently call Nexon’s customer service, and we’ll help you choose the right impulse generator, provide full equipment, and offer expert advice – even in person at our HQ.
As Nexon Levi would say:
👉 “If it’s an electric fence, it’s Nexon – see you soon!”
Take care!
